Health and Safety Officer

Gateshead/Sunderland Tyne & Wear

Salary:
£31,190 per annum (full time equivalent), with the potential to increase to £34,532 per annum subject to annual performance reviews

Full time role:
37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with some flexibility to meet the requirements of the post

Contract: Permanent

Location: North-East based, with organisation wide remit

Job Purpose:

We are looking to recruit a part time NEBOSH qualified Health & Safety Officer, who has proven practical work experience gained in the H&S field. Working closely with the Housing Management Team the successful candidate will ensure the organisation, and all organisational activities are compliant with health and safety regulations and good practice, and lead the development, promotion and implementation of a H&S culture within Oasis Community Housing. You will be responsible for reviewing and monitoring H&S policies and processes, supporting staff with H&S queries and facilitating training in response to any identified H&S issues.

You will need a good knowledge of H&S legislation, plus the ability to interpret and apply it. Experience of delivering training, undertaking property fire risk assessments and investigating incidents, accidents, and recommending preventative measures is also essential. You will also need to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to meet deadlines, have excellent report writing and IT skills and have a flexible attitude.
