Supported Housing Officer (London)


London Borough of Southwark (Peckham)

£25,621 per annum (plus £4000 of London weighting)

Full time role:
37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with some flexibility to meet the requirements of the post
Undertake On Call duty as part of the On Call rota.

Job Purpose: 
To support the delivery of property based Crisis and Home projects through the provision of housing management functions into the existing and growing Organisational property portfolio. Working with colleagues in the Housing Management Team, to ensure health and safety obligations are met, the properties are suitably decorated and furnished, repairs and maintenance is scheduled, rents and service charges are collected, and voids are filled in accordance with the Organisational policies and procedures. 

The existing property portfolio consists of owned, managed, and leased for use by Crisis Services, Home, and let on the open market. Properties have a variety of purposes, and are of mixed tenure:

  • Southwark Services – Our Peckham project is a 16-bed house for single women aged 16 – 21 years old or up to 25 if Care Leavers. The project is staffed 24-hrs by the core staff team and on occasion with Relief/Agency cover. The service also includes 40 bed spaces of dispersed accommodation consisting of self-contained units and small to medium sized HMO’s. Occupants are male and female while some of the self-contained are specifically for mothers with babies/children. The properties are in close proximity to the housing project in Peckham.
  • Basis Beds – Provides a same day access Housing First style project for those with multiple and complex needs, into properties dispersed throughout Gateshead, Sunderland and South Tyneside.
  • Supported housing – Safe accommodation with holistic support is provided in HMO’s (Houses of Multiple Occupancy) which have 24/7 on-site staff support, plus non-staffed smaller dispersed houses – residents are predominantly young women/young people experiencing homelessness or leaving the care system and young mums and their babies/toddlers (often subject to child protection).
  • Let on the open market – Residents who have accessed our portfolio of properties which are let on the open market. These properties are also available to North East residents from our supported accommodation projects who have successfully completed a programme of support and have been assessed as suitable to live independently.
  • Basis@ Centres – providing support to those experiencing homelessness via drop-in’s based in Gateshead and Sunderland.
